Lagoon City | 9th Concession | Holmes Point Park | Innisfil Secret Spot | Keswick – Cooks Bay Park | North Oliphant | South Oliphant | Cherry Beach
Lagoon City
Address: 99-101 Lake Ave, Brechin, ON L0K 1B0
Description: This is ukiteboard’s favourite teaching spot!
It’s an ideal spot because it’s shallow and has a sandy bottom for a long way out. Launching can be a bit tricky unless you walk out into the water a bit. There is a small park with a playground that’s ideal for setting up your kite and getting ready. There are large beaches on either side of the jetty that are privately owned and each has overhead wires along the full length, so stay away from those.
Mostly sand, however some small rocks and shells as well as Zebra mussels so we recommend wearing booties.

Holmes Point Park
Address: 101 Holmes Point Rd, Georgina, ON L0E 1N0
Description: Great spot for beginners! Shallow for a long way out and has a nice sandy bottom. The park has lots grass so plenty of room to set up your kites. Not a very big beach so a water or drift launch is usually necessary. Bonus… there’s a kite anchor in launch area. Keep in mind there’s a pay parking lot for non-Georgina residents (strictly enforced during summer) that costs $6/hour or $20/day – the machine should accept credit cards but in case it’s not working bring your toonies!
This is a sweet spot so please obey rules to preserve these kiting privileges.

Innisfil Secret Spot
Address: 1203 Maple Rd, Innisfil, Ontario
Description: We found the perfect spot on Lake Simcoe if there’s an East Wind! Since Lagoon City and 9th Concession are not kiteable in East wind, we go to the other side! We rig up on the small beach and walk out into the shallow water with a nice sandy bottom to launch due to treed shoreline.
Since there is no official weather buoy for this spot, we use the forecast for Lagoon City and 9th Concession and make the necessary adjustments.

Cherry Beach
Address: 275 Unwin Avenue Toronto, ON M5A 1A2
Description: Cherry Beach is not recommended for beginners (i.e. you are not able to kite upwind unless you are with a Certified Instructor) due to obstacle and the limited landing zones downwind including the lifeguard station, dock and below that area as well which includes a narrow beach area and trees. Cherry Beach can be a good waist deep and deep water location to learn to kiteboard in the right weather conditions with our experienced certified instructor. Jetski or zodiac support is also a good idea for this spot. For more details on this spot see the Local Kite Spots link below.
